Fund Raising For A Cause...

Two Sundays ago, I volunteered to help my mom and her friends sell some stuff at St. Henry's parish. The proceeds will go to the Altar Rosary group. The group is in charge of arranging the altar before and after mass. They make sure that the place is well kept.
My mom asked me to order some eggrolls (lumpiang shanghai) and turon from the outlet store owned by my boss. I was so excited because even foreigners dropped by to try our very own Filipino delicacies. (",)

Thanksgiving...



Thanksgiving celebration made me realize that there are so many things in my life that I have to be grateful for. Be it material or non-material, still, I'm really thankful for all the blessings that He has showered upon me.

..that I still have my parents around
..for my family, relatives and friends
..that I do have a decent job
..because for the past two weeks, i wasn't late for work
..because I have managed to stand up again despite the many trials that came my way
..because I still believe in love despite the heartbreaks I endured in the past
..for my new Nine West boots
..because I have lost so much weight for the past few months
..for my University jacketthat I got last week
..to Iya for buying the jacket for me.. and for Tita Mel for mailing it to me.
..for the LV bag that Tita G gave me as an early Christmas present
..for being able to survive the Chicago winter
..for the strength You give me to face each day
..for helping me to move on, and teaching me to hold on
..and above all, Thank You Lord for loving me unconditionally..

Monday - I received a letter from my aunt in Hong Kong. She also sent me a mini album of the pictures she took using her digicam. I just can't explain the excitement I feel whenever I receive letters from the mail. 2 weeks ago, I received five or six letters from Iya, one of my buddies back home. I waited till it was bedtime before I read all her letters. I waited till everyone's asleep because I wanted a peaceful and calm atmosphere while reading them. Even with the latest technology we have such as e-mails or text messages, I still prefer handwritten letters.

It's getting harder every week..

Sometimes I really feel like giving up coz I hardly have the time to practice really. But I am no quitter.. I dream of one day be able to play my favorite songs. That alone inspires me to work or rather practice more..

Last Friday, I couldn't help but just smile, because exactly 9 years ago, I had my first boyfriend. Yeah I know, too young huh? Hahaha! I was just thinking, what could or what might have been, if I did not break up with him. 9 years na sana kami. He was the guy that my mom really wanted for me. But you know what? Eventhought we did not end up together, I am happy for him now... Coz he already found the right girl. Him and I are good friends, what else could I ask for? (",)

What I'm Loving Right Now...

Lychee Flavored Jelly. Tastes best when chilled.. I'm loving it so much that I asked mom to buy one whole bucket. (",)

Grass Jelly Drink (Banana Flavor) a.k.a Black Gulaman
Eversince I was I kid, I've always loved black gulaman, coz my mom, mama(my grandma) and my tita, serve this drink whenever small gatherings are held at home. Imagine my delight when I learned that they have it here and it's ready to drink.. (",) So it means I don't have to persuade mom to make one...(I think it requires a lot of time to make it. Coz she has to slice the black gulaman into small bits.. )

Storm Of The Century

It was a scary one, but it was too long, imagine 248 minutes??? I actually fell asleep watching it. Hahaha! I do not recommend this movie.

Sunday...Family Day
We all went to church together. Mom and I sang for the choir.

After the mass, our first stop was:

Lincolnwood Town Center. It's the nearest mall in our place. Spent hours window shopping.. Bought some stuff for nail care. I have this very brittle nails and I'm hating it. I think if i'll just dip my nails in water for quite a while, I could peel of the whole thing! Hahaha!

Fave Japanese Resto

We had lunch at New Tokyo along Broadway and Belmont. It's my fave jap resto in town! Had the New Bento Combo which had tempura, sashimi, miso soup, california maki. And for dessert, I had green tea flavored mochi! Yummy! Forget about losing weight first. It's my fave resto that we're talkin bout here.. (",) At least, when I do eat Japanese food, I don't feel guilty. Coz compared to Chinese food, Jap food has no, or it has lesser cholesterol. I don't feel bloated after eating. Chinese food is too oily for me..

Rice Box Cafe

Last Saturday, we dropped by at the new resto of my boss. They had the establishment blessed and they had invited quite a bunch of people.. It was nice bumpin to some friends I haven't seen for quite a while..




Usherette again..
The Philippine Rondalla of Chicago officially launched their first CD at the Ramada Hotel. And once more, I was invited to be one of the usherettes that night. It was successful. A lot of foreigners enjoyed the music. Food was good... Silent auction went well.. But something sad happened that night.. The name of one of the players was not written on the cd cover. It was quite an issue.. His mom was so upset. If I were in her shoes, I'd definitely feel the same way.. The player realized his name wasn't on the cd, during the autograph signing.. How sad is that???

If there's something productive that I had done over the weekend, it's organizing our pantry. Hahahaha! It took me 2 hours to do so...
